How We Model

Scenarios uses Monte Carlo simulation to stress-test your retirement plan against thousands of possible futures. This page explains exactly how the model works — the assumptions, the maths, and the limitations.

The short version
We run 1,000 independent simulations. Each generates a unique sequence of investment returns, inflation, and market conditions from today until your plan's end age. At each simulated year the engine applies your contributions, withdrawals, and full UK tax obligations. Results are ranked into percentile bands to show the range of plausible outcomes — not just one "average" projection.

The model is only as useful as the inputs you give it. The more accurately you enter your accounts, contributions, and spending, the more meaningful the projections.
